Hand printed Cyanotypes by Nat Michele.

In 2020, Gabrielle Aplin was inspired by Nat Michele’s “Only When I’m Dreaming” exhibition and asked if she wanted to lead on the creative direction for her 4th studio album “Phosphorescent”.

The album was created musically within a studio powered by solar, so they both set out to create a series of images which were similarly powered by nature - cyanotypes.

Natalie enjoyed exploring new printing techniques which saw her print the majority in her garden whilst combining her love of music and photography. She created single artwork, album artwork and booklet, Spotify canvases and a 5,000 frame hand-printed music video for single “Good Enough” which was entered in to the UK MVA’s.

All the artwork created for the campaign was launched alongside the album in London in an exhibition style launch party at Green and Stone Gallery, and thereafter invited by prestigious gallery Urban Arts in Brazil to be exhibited in 9 of it’s galleries across the country, where Natalie and Gabrielle travelled and delivered performances and cyanotype workshops to admiring fans.
